Grand Teton, WY: It’s true. Adventure Bear has been on the road with me and Carrie. He’s keeping a lower profile this year, but wanted to say hello from Grand Teton National Park.
This was the first post of 2022, which also reappears as the last post. This is because A.B.’s agent isn’t very good at posting…
Vancouver, B.C.: For the second time ever, Adventure Bear visited Canada! We were in Vancouver, British Columbia; never been there before. Their Museum of Anthropology had amazing indigenous art and history. A beautiful drive up to Whistler led to their Olympic Village (2010), and stunning mountain views.
Team A.B. really enjoyed the Museum of Anthropology.Touch gently – but please don’t ride the bear. That’s good advice in any country.Which of his nations will A.B. represent at the next Olympics? Australia and the U.S. can both make a claim on his formidable talents, but Canada could be calling too…On the drive to Whistler.Scenic
Port Townsend, WA: Hanging out in Port Townsend, Washington means walking through garden-filled neighborhoods, and days of low-risk adventure, unless you count having to cross the deer that stand between you and your casita.
This is just one example of the beautiful lavender found in Port Townsend. This flower, though quite lovely, is actually not in Port Townsend, but in Heronswood Garden (heronswoodgarden.org), a great stop on our way over from Seattle. (A.B. insists on accuracy in reporting).Ditto the above caption – Heronswood again – but a great shot!True story about the deer. They were pretty calm, but you had to watch where you walked!
North of Seattle, WA: We camped in Deception Pass State Park north of Seattle, so we could spend time with Mark Denton and Leslie Hildreth Denton, who happened to be on their own adventure up there. Whale watching off the islands was just part of the fun!
Thanks to the Dentons for sharing their pictures.
That’s what we call scenic!Look who is being a good sport and joining in the photo. Adventure Bear sets such a good example that everyone is compelled to cooperate! Two Bigg’s orcas – teenage males according to our naturalist guide – known for dining primarily on mammals rather than fish.On the whale watching trip with Mark and Leslie. Not pictured? A.B. Small mammals and Biggs orcas seem like a bad combo…
Seattle, WA: We made it to Seattle to see the Space Needle, the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum, and lunch with a view of Pike’s Public Market. Plenty of cool things to see, with lovely summer weather in Seattle.
Adventure Bear was not familiar with this artist’s work, but no trip to Seattle should be without a visit!Indoors or outdoors, this much sculpted glass makes a big statement. (We kept our paws behind our backs at all times….)A.B. loves to see the people back in the public!
Portland (and more Mt. Hood) and Salem, OR: Roses in Portland, Mt. Hood, and Silver Falls State Park, east of Salem, Oregon.
This would be the Rose Garden (the Test Rose Garden to be more accurate) in Portland. Markers highlighting award-winning roses dating back decades! A.B. is of course a more recent vintage.Imagine this scene repeated over and over – accidental gardeners such as ourselves are amazed! Our coordination is not as “spot on” as usual, but pretty sure this is a picture from the Mt. Hood region. This is a day trip from Salem, OR – many waterfalls in a great state park. Thanks to the Partains for the recommendation! (Again, the Henke’s hat but with bad lighting – shout out nonetheless!)Pretty self explanatory. Enjoy!
Hood River, OR: Hiking and camping near Mt. Hood, Oregon. Yes, that’s snow in July.
Note A.B.’s winter gear, first pictured in Sequoia N.P. (sadly, before A.B. got his own website, so pictures not available.)That’s a Henke’s hat Jay is wearing, but the bright sun obscures the logo – shout out nonetheless! What makes a tree do this? (We don’t know.)
Please note: In a blatant disregard of contract terms, Jay published the following “Behind the Scenes” photo in his post. Adventure Bear’s Agent has been dispatched to read the fine print to determine consequences.
But has a bear ever been cuter?
Grand Teton, WY: We’ve moved on to other vistas, but here are some more from our stop at Grand Teton National Park. The park was surprisingly uncrowded, and the hiking and views were spectacular.
Just another day in the life of Adventure Bear…
Park City, UT: When in Park City, Utah, a stop (or three) at the High West Distillery is a must. Food, drink and service all rate 5 stars.
Also represented, Henke’s Tavern in Florissant, Missouri, owned in part by Carrie’s cousins, who live down the street. They’ve brought back a neighborhood institution that’s welcoming to everyone. If your adventures bring you near these fine establishments, you can’t go wrong with a visit.
Could this be the endorsement deal of which Adventure Bear has always dreamed? Call us High West! Call us Extraordinarily Enlightened Owners of Henke’s!
