From Seattle to the South
On the way to Bend, OR
Between Albany and Bend, Oregon, we walked from Sahalie Falls to Koosa Falls, on a trail beside the clear and rushing McKenzie River.

Albany, OR
Special thanks to Ranee Zweygardt Webb and Marc Webb for hosting and showing us around Albany, Oregon. Seeing behind the scenes where they are carving new animals for the town’s carousel was fascinating, and Adventure Bear got to ride. We also visited a lovely vineyard, but the bear did not get a tasting.

Puyallup WA and Salem OR
South of Seattle, we ate at one of our favorite restaurants in Puyallup. Yep, real creole in Washington state. We visited our friend Shelby in Salem, Oregon, which gave us a golden chance to see their state capitol, which has no dome, but does have a golden man on top. Shelby is one of Adventure Bear’s biggest fans from way back in 2016. Shelby’s cat was a really good sport for the photo shoot.

Seattle, WA
We took the ferry to Seattle, and stopped in at Pike Place Market. All the shopping opportunities were pretty overwhelming for Adventure Bear, so he found a place to rest at The Purple Store. I have to say that Seattle is the most difficult city in which I have ever driven.

Mt. Rainier National Park, WA
So we are skipping ahead a little because this happened yesterday (June 20th!) at Mt. Rainier National Park. As we drove up to the Paradise Inn we noticed snow on the ground, and as we got closer we could tell it was fresh snow. The weather cleared enough for us to hike a little and see how “summer” can look on the mountain.
One great thing is that a week ago we had made reservations at the Inn, instead of our original camping plan. We have yet to see the full view of the mountain, so I am including two pictures from when we were here in 2015.
